ASSORTED NUTS,
      A FAMILY ALBUM....

....chronicles my personal journey through the minefields of a frightened, anxious childhood; an angry descent into the teen years; two failed marriages and a hopeful third; as well as battles with breast cancer and alcohol addiction (Yes! I did say it was humorous) only to finally find my voice and my emotional freedom in the Green Mountains of Vermont.

The main story is set in that bucolic state where the wedding of my only daughter, Sara, will alter our relationship forever.  With two out of three husbands in attendance, I find myself on the brink of giddy madness as I stumble against long ago forgotten faces, both friend and foe - each evoking vivid memories of the past.

Throughout these recollections, ASSORTED NUTS remains a funny and irreverent survivor's tale that is delivered in the language of hope and courage.

I feel certain that every woman who is a mother or a daughter or has ever fallen in or out of love will see herself in at least one of the issues I have successfully confronted.

Wishing you tears of laughter, Sandy

A Little About Me:

I was born in Lake Forest, IL. and raised in Grosse Pointe, MI. I went to school there; married there; and divorced there.

I currently live on Clearwater Beach in Florida with my husband. Don, who is a good enough sport that he let me air some of our not-so-spotless laundry in this book.

I have one spectacular daughter, Sara, who lives way too far away in Mass. She and her husband, Ethan, have blessed me with two wonderful and brilliant grandsons - the lights of my life.

I also have three splendid step-children, Donnie Jr., Jill and Chris - and seven more grandchildren, thanks to them.

This memoir took me a total of ten years to write and started out as a method of collecting my memories (and maybe my wits) by cataloguing the events of my life in some recognizable order and then trying to fix the ragged, fractured parts and finally get some peace in my life.  It worked!

But along the way, I found that many of the exploits
and catastrophes that formed my experience took on a comical personality and, once I was finished, I wanted to share the comic relief with other women everywhere.

I regard this book as my tribute to my daughter, Sara - a little something to leave behind.  And, it turned out to be so much fun to write that I have already started on a second one.
